Treatment for stretch marks

Stretch mark treatment aims to improve skin texture and color, and is most effective when stretch marks are recent and red. Treatments include creams containing retinoids or hyaluronic acid to stimulate collagen production, microdermabrasion, and collagen induction therapies (microneedling).

Effective Clinical Treatments

  1. Radiofrequency and Microneedling: Stimulate collagen production and improve skin texture.

  2. Retinoic Acid: Prescription creams that rebuild collagen, very effective in early stages.

Creams and Home Care

  1. Intense Hydration: Use creams with centella asiatica, rosehip, vitamin E, hyaluronic acid or cocoa butter to improve elasticity.

  2. Natural Oils: Almond or rosehip oil, applied with circular massages, help to regenerate the skin.

  3. Avoiding Rapid Weight Changes: Maintaining a balanced diet rich in vitamin C and zinc helps prevent its occurrence.

Key Points

  1. Red stretch marks (striae rubra): These are easier to treat because they still have vascularization.

  2. White stretch marks (striae alba): These are mature scars and more difficult to remove, so laser treatment is usually the best option.

  3. Pregnancy: Retinol is not compatible with pregnancy or breastfeeding.
