Treatment for Axillary Hyperhidrosis

Treatment for underarm hyperhidrosis includes topical options such as antiperspirants containing aluminum chloride, glycopyrronium wipes (Qbrexza), and oral medications (anticholinergics). The most effective solutions are botulinum toxin (Botox) injections, which last 6 to 9 months, and non-invasive technologies such as the miraDry system or microwave therapy, which permanently eliminate the glands.

Main Treatment Options

Topical (First line): Aluminum chloride antiperspirants (Drysol, Xerac Ac) applied at night. Glycopyrronium tosylate wipes (Qbrexza).

Medical Procedures

  1. Botulinum Toxin (Botox): Blocks the nerves that activate the glands. 80-90% success rate with a duration of 6-9 months.

  2. Microwave (miraDry): Destroys sweat glands using electromagnetic energy. Permanent results with 80-82% effectiveness.

  3. Laser/Radiofrequency: Endolifting laser or radiofrequency with microneedles to destroy the glands.

Oral Medications

Anticholinergics (glycopyrrolate, oxybutynin) for severe cases, although they may have side effects such as dry mouth.
